Day 01: Arrive in Nairobi, the “Green City in the Sun”

We’ll meet you on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Immediately, we’ll safely drive you through the city to Hemingway Nairobi, a luxurious hotel in the lush, upscale Karen neighborhood.

Day 02 and 03: Fly to Amboseli National Park from Nairobi
Day 02 and 03: Fly to Amboseli National Park from Nairobi

We’ll pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Wilson airport. Next, you’ll board a scheduled morning flight to Amboseli National Park in the plains below Mt. Kilimanjaro, where you’ll spend two days.
You’ll enjoy sumptuous lunch at the park’s camp/lodge. Amboseli means ‘the place of water’ in the Maasai language. That’s why it has an endless water supply, which is filtered through thousands of meters of volcanic rocks from Mount Kilimanjaro.
Here, you can feast your eyes on African elephants, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, impalas, and leopards. Birds are also plenty in Amboseli. Some of the birds you can enjoy viewing include pelicans, bee-eaters, kingfishers, African fish eagles, and pygmy falcons.
Amboseli is one of Kenya’s most popular parks and home to massive African Jumbos and Africa’s highest point, Mt. Kilimanjaro. Here, Ernest Hemingway and Robert Ruark set their famed stories of big-game hunting in Africa’s wilds.

Also, Cynthia Moss, the noted American naturalist and author, conducted one of the longest-running studies on elephants here. You might even see some of the elephants she immortalized in her books and award-winning film, The Echo of the Elephants. In the afternoons, you can proceed into the panoramic Amboseli National Park for a game drive.

Day 04 and 05: Fly to Meru National Park From Amboseli National Park
Day 04 and 05: Fly to Meru National Park From Amboseli National Park

From Amboseli, you head straight to the iconic Meru National Park on Mt. Kenya’s slopes. It’s a mountain slope-to-mountain slope kind of transition! Don’t forget that Mt. Kenya is Kenya’s highest and Africa’s second-highest mountain. It’s one of Kenya’s untamed national parks, full of rugged jungles, rivers, swamps, and grasslands perfect for nostalgic game viewing.
The park is famous for Joy Adamson's "Born Free" books and Africa’s Big 5. In 1960, it was the perfect setting for Joy Adamson's book "Born Free." The book details the story of the years she and her husband spent here researching the local lion and cheetah population. Elsa, the lioness who features in "Born Free" and captured the world's heart, is buried near her favorite stream in the park.
Do you love gorging your eyes on majestic lion prides, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, black rhinos, zebras, gazelles, and oryxes? You will see all these animals here, alongside other rare antelopes like the Lesser Kudu and duiker. The common Dik Dik, one of Africa's smallest antelopes, and some of Kenya's largest buffalo herds are abundant for your eyes’ feasting.
Did I tell you about its rich river and birdlife? Its rivers overflow with hippos and crocodiles. You may also fish for Barbus and catfish along the Tana River. Bird lovers also have something to smile about because they can watch over 300 bird species.
