We’ll meet you on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Immediately, we’ll safely drive you through the city to Hemingways Nairobi, a luxurious hotel in the lush, upscale Karen neighborhood.
Our driver will pick you from the hotel and drive to the Elephant Orphanage—a world-famous animal refuge. The orphanage is a haven for orphaned elephants from Kenya and other countries.
The baby elephants are rescued after their mothers or families die from drought, accidents, or poaching. The orphanage is the most successful sanctuary of its kind worldwide and has saved over 200 baby elephants and young rhinos.
Feeding here starts at 11:00 am. Imagine the sight of dozens of baby elephants running to their handlers and latching on to giant baby bottles! It’s a scene of unforgettable cuteness. The little elephants bathe after enjoying their fill of formula. Just next, you see the tiny elephants rolling in the mud, playing and spraying each other.
Later, you’ll drive to Karen Blixen for lunch before proceeding to Giraffe Centre to watch endangered Rothschild’s giraffes. Since its inception in 1979, the Centre has been breeding and saving this beautiful giraffe subspecies from extinction. Now, they’re thriving throughout Africa thanks to the heroic efforts of founders Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville. Here, you’ll climb the feeding tower and offer the giraffes some food pellets. Afterward, you’ll return to Hemmingways Hotel.
The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy sprawls over the Laikipia plains and is popular among celebrities, conservationists, writers, and photographers. Its visitors enjoy some of the most spectacular wildlife viewings Kenya offers. The conservancy’s landscape covers mountainous areas, open grasslands, and river valleys, where over 350 birds and 70 mammal species live.
Its wildlife is diverse and abundant, featuring many rare species such as the reticulated giraffe, black and white rhino. You can also view the largest resident population of Grevy’s zebra in the world.
The Lewa House is situated in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. It’s strategic for viewing Mount Kenya, the Matthews Range, and the sacred mountains of the Ol Olokwe to the north. Since 1924, the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy has been spearheading black rhino protection. It’s a hub of wildlife, including elephants, lions, buffalos. You also get rare sightings of the illusive African wild dogs.
You can engage in several activities at the Lewa House during your two-day stay. You may engage in day and night game drives, guided game walks, and conservation efforts. Additionally, you may engage in community activities, such as visiting the anti-poaching tracker dogs and sponsored local schools. Don’t forget to enjoy horse riding, camel rides, and cultural trips. We can even arrange for scenic biplane flights as an additional activity!
After breakfast, we’ll transfer you to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to the Maasai Mara. The camp is strategically located on a private concession on the western border of the game-rich Masai Mara National Reserve. Beside the excellent year-round wildlife concentration, access to the concession allows for bush walks, night drives, and bush dining under a starry sky.
On arrival, your host will pick you. You enjoy a game drive en-route to Kichwa Tembo at noon and proceed to enjoy lunch. Afterward, you have some time to relax in your tented room before joining your guide for an afternoon game drive in the conservancy.
Spend two days in Maasai Mara. For families with small children, the naturalists at Kichwa Tembo offer a wild child program. The program includes learning how the Maasai make a fire, shoot a bow and arrow, and bead a bracelet. You and your family can also enjoy a nature walk around the camp learning to identify butterflies, animal tracks, trees, and leaves. You may also enjoy time with chefs baking cupcakes for afternoon tea.
Families with tweens and teenagers can expect the extraordinary opportunity to explore a Maasai village with an expert walking guide. You can shake hands with a proud Maasai chief and greet him with a ‘Jambo’ (hello in Swahili) as he invites you into his village and way of life.
Your entire family will enjoy the memorable opportunity to soar across the magnificent Masai Mara in a hot-air balloon during your stay.
After breakfast, we’ll transfer you to the airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Wilson Airport Nairobi, marking your luxury safari’s end.
